Patient's Rights

Every patient has the right to:

  • High quality dental care.

  • Considerate, respectful, and confidential treatment.

  • Reasonable continuity and timeliness of treatment, realizing that treatment takes longer in an educational institution due to quality control measures.

  • Advance knowledge of the cost of treatment.

  • An explanation of proposed treatment, alternative treatment possibilities, the advantages and disadvantages of various treatments, limitations to proposed treatment, and the risks of no treatment.

  • Refuse any treatment recommendations.

  • Personnel that wear clean, protective apparel during your treatment.

  • Protective eyewear to wear during your treatment.

  • Take a "time out" if your care is too lengthy or too uncomfortable.

  • Emergency care (call your assigned student first, but if unable to contact, call 280-2865).

  • Access to complete and current information about your condition.

  • The opportunity to ask questions.
